Guarantee period continuation options
Within 30 days after the Guarantee Period ends, you may elect to:
- Apply your Contract Value to a Settlement Option.
- Make partial withdrawals, without surrender charge or adjustment for MVA. After withdrawals, the remaining contract value may be applied to a new Guarantee Period.
- Surrender your entire annuity for the total Contract Value, without surrender charge or MVA.
- Renew your Guarantee Series annuity for yet another Guarantee Period, same duration as previous Guarantee period. This is the automatically-exercised option.
Note: If your Contract continues for another guarantee duration, the applicable surrender charges, MVA, and surrender period also apply to the new period.
Surrender charges
These are deductible from the sum of your contract if you surrender or take partial withdrawals above the penalty-free threshold during the surrender charge duration.
Market value adjustment (MVA)
An MVA gest applied to any full surrenders or partial withdrawals from the annuity, above the penalty-free threshold during the surrender charge period. This MVA either increases or decreases Contract Value before Surrender Charges can be applied.
Death benefit
In the event the owner or annuitant dies; American Equity pays the total value of the Contract to appointed beneficiaries.
